Ariana Grande Kissed Her Glinda Blonde Hair Goodbye

No one mourns the wicked, but sometimes they do mourn elements of darkness. Specifically: Ariana Grande’s brunette hair. Though we’ve loved her blonde Glinda era (it’s been nothing less than thrillifying), we’ve been waiting the day she returns to her natural hair color, whether the change up is for good or not.

You know what they say: There’s no place like home!! And sometimes home means your natural roots.

Ariana Grande’s Dark Hair

Early in the morning on Wednesday, October 29, Grande shared a post to her Instagram account. In the photo—it’s a mirror picture, naturally—she peeks over her phone, making eye contact with her full head of side parted and shiny brown curls.

“It’s good to see me, isn’t it?” she captioned the post alongside a bubble emoji—proof that her Wicked era is far from over. Nevertheless, this is a big change.

Grande’s new color was the work of Francesco De Chiara. Though the lighting in the photo isn’t amazing, it looks like the warm brunette shade features a touch of auburn. It’s not not reminiscent of Dorothy’s hair in the original The Wizard of Oz. Grande’s bouncy curled ends only support the comparison. If she had pigtails in, and ruby red slippers, perhaps, they’d look identical.

Ariana Grande’s Hair Color Journey

The last time we saw brunette Grande was pre-Wicked. When the first movie came out last fall, she shared a separate Instagram post showing her first crown fitting from September 2022. For the event, she wore the same dark, side-parted hair.

Since then, we’ve seen the singer in various shades of blonde, from platinum to a warmer strawberry shade.
