Audiobook review: A Walk in the Park by Rebekah Weatherspoon
Due to a disgruntled shelter employee, both Janelle and Andre were approved to adopt Zeus. After a discussion over the matter, they agree to co-parent the 4-year-old dog.
A Walk in the Park is a delightful, feel-good romance. Both Janelle and Andre are dealing with loneliness after a breakup and figure a dog will be the perfect companion. Little do they know they are finding their perfect match in the deal. I love that both are kind and caring, in the same point in life, and on the same wavelength. They are both creative and find many common interests. And most impressively, they are both mature adults who are respectful, communicate, and don’t play games. I love that each potential roadblock is handled without drama.
Narration: The story is shared via the alternating first person POVs of Janelle and Andre, with Marissa Hampton performing Janelle’s POV and Chinua Hawk performing Andre’s POV. I enjoyed both equally, although their narrating speeds were slightly off. MH is faster, while CH is noticeably slower-paced, so much so that I had to speed up his sections. That said, I found both perfect for their characters. Both narrators are expressive and able to adjust appropriately for the dialogue of other characters.
A Walk in the Park is the love story of a couple that meant to be. It starts with a meet-cute and ends with the promise of an HEA, and I enjoyed every moment.

Both of them agree to the unusual arrangement. Sharing a dog with a complete stranger isn’t quite the walk in the (dog) park they imagined, but as they work together to give Zeus a loving future, their four-legged friend might not be the only one who’s found a happily ever after.
