Audiobook review: Booked for the Holidays by Liz Maverick

audiobook cover of Booked for the Holidays by Liz MaverickI complete enjoyed listening to the sweet Hanuukkah romance Booked for the Holidays. Abi decides to stay in the city for the holidays and volunteers to work with famous cozy mystery author D.B. Ziegler to help her finish the manuscript of her final book. However, when she arrives, she finds out D.B. passed away, and in order to fulfill her dying wish, grandson Dov is finishing the book.

Abi and Dov are nerdy, sweet, and super adorable. They click and work well together. Each admires and respects the other and starts to secretly find ways to hang out. Both are too shy and scared to admit their true feelings. Booked for the Holidays is a snow-filled, feel-good holiday romance.

Narration: The story is shared via the alternating first person POVs of Dov and Abi, performed by Eiden and Kaminsky respectively. Both narrators are veterans I’ve enjoyed in previous performances. Eiden has a gravely, fairly deep voice. Ms. Kaminsky has a perky feminine voice that captures Abi’s wide array of emotions. Both successfully alter dialog for gender. The pair makes a great team, enhancing the story.

In the end, I highly recommend Booked for the Holidays for a cozy, winter read.

About the Book:

When mystery author D. B. Ziegler is late delivering her book, Abi Schore steps in to help. Surely she can give her favorite author moral support over the holiday break and get the manuscript to her boss at Tea & Sympathy Publishing in time for the new year.

When Abi shows up on Ms. Ziegler’s doorstep bearing holiday treats, she’s met by the author’s handsome grandson Dov, who reveals a startling plot twist. His grandmother isn’t able to finish the book and Dov promised he’d complete it so fans won’t be disappointed—a task that’s harder than he ever imagined.

As Hanukkah unfolds, Abi and Dov cozy up in his grandmother’s brownstone apartment working their way through his writer’s block and untangling plot threads. Before long, the novel starts taking shape … and so does their simmering attraction. Will their own story end once the book is written, or is this just the first chapter?
