Amy Daws was on my list of authors I’d like to try, so I was delighted to receive an advanced copy of Nine Month Contract. This is the first novel in the Mountain Men Matchmaker series. Daws delivered a hilarious grumpy sunshine romance and I cannot wait for the next one.

Help Wanted: Grumpy mountain man seeks baby momma. Job is an incubator position only. Surrogate must be impervious to grunting as the form of communication and nosy brotherly neighbors. Rustic mountain range housing available upon request.
I wanted to pummel my irritating brothers when they posted their own version of a wanted ad to help me with my life.
But I can’t fault the results once the right woman lands in my lap.
Becoming a single father is not a decision I made lightly. In fact, it’s the biggest decision of my entire life.
Which is why when I interview Trista, I know she’s perfect.
She’s wild, she’s opinionated, she wears cowboy boots. Even my pet goat loves her…
She’s the exact type of person I was holding out for.
And to my great horror, I realize on our first night of attempting this baby-making dance—when the lights are low, the cheap wine is flowing and the home-insemination supplies are laid out on the kitchen counter—I want to do a lot more than just make her my surrogate.
I want to make her mine.
Now in paperback with a sprayed-edge, Nine Month Contract by Amy Daws offered a delightfully sexy, humorous romcom with farm animals, siblings and matchmaking. It’s the first in the Mountain Men Mstchmaker series, with the next book Seven-Year Itch releasing June 2025.
Wyatt is the grumpy mountain man in question. He wants to be a father and is trying to find a surrogate mother. He is using professional services, but with little luck. Everly, his niece, puts an ad on Craigslist with the help of her other uncle, one of Wyatt’s brothers.
Help Wanted: Grumpy mountain man seeks baby momma. Job is an incubator position only. Surrogate must be impervious to grunting as the form of communication and nosy brotherly neighbors. Rustic mountain range housing available upon request.
Wyatt lives in the home he built himself outside of town and his brothers, Luke and Calder, built on his land as well. Wyatt loves his life, his goat and working with his brothers building sustainable homes. None of them can tell Everly no, so Wyatt agrees to meet prospective baby mama number thirteen.
Enter, Trista, a woman about to be evicted from her apartment with dreams of owning an animal rescue. Because of her own childhood, she has no desire to become a parent, but the pay to carry someone’s child would help seed her dreams. The tale that unfolds kept me up way past my bedtime.
I loved Wyatt & Trista from their hilarious meet cute to how they got pregnant. Their relationship was a nine-month slow-burn and watching the two of them was perfection. I loved the character’s growth, the jealousy and the animals. Trista made this grumpy mountain man coming undone.
Weave in family, schemes, acceptance and backstory that made the characters’ action and reactions feel genuine. If you are looking to escape reality and want a feel good, steamy, laugh out loud romcom, Nine Month Contract is it.
