Ingredients Tips and Swaps

Almond flour adds a delightful nutty flavor and a slightly crumbly texture to these muffins, providing a healthier alternative to traditional all-purpose flour. Using almond flour also makes these muffins naturally gluten-free, making them suitable for those with dietary restrictions.

Applesauce adds a delightful sweetness, and moisture, to these muffins. It’s a healthier alternative to traditional fats like butter or oil, making these muffins a guilt-free indulgence. You can use store-bought applesauce or make your own for a fresh and homemade taste. Check out my easy applesauce recipe for a simple and delicious way to make your own.

Vanilla bean powder is a concentrated form of vanilla beans, offering a more intense and pure flavor compared to vanilla extract. It adds a rich and complex aroma to these muffins. Alternatively, you can use vanilla extract for a slightly milder flavor. For 1/2 tsp of vanilla powder, you would replace it with 1 tsp vanilla extract.

Dairy-free dark chocolate chips provide a rich, indulgent flavor without any dairy-derived ingredients. They’re a great option for those with lactose intolerance or dairy allergies, while still offering the delicious taste of chocolate.
