Furniture and Interior Design Trends of 2025

2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for home design. With a focus on sustainability, personal expression, and innovative materials, this year’s trends are all about creating spaces that feel authentic, functional, and uniquely yours– qualities we can always get behind!

While the team at VWS was founded on the principle of longevity rather than trends that change year after year, it’s always inspiring to stay aware of trends in the furniture and interior design space. Thoughtfully incorporating on-trend touches, like a bold statement piece or accent, can be a great way to refresh your home without compromising on timeless style.

Here’s what’s taking center stage in furniture and interior design this year:

Sustainable Materials

In our opinion, sustainable materials are always in style– especially given that all of our pieces are built from North American hardwoods that reduce carbon emissions and prevent deforestation. In 2025 and beyond, expect to see furniture crafted with an emphasis on reclaimed or recycled materials, low-impact manufacturing processes, and longevity.

Our Recommendation: Educate yourself before you buy. Research the sourcing practices of brands to ensure they align with sustainability values, and learn which hardwoods are local to your region.

Bold, Vibrant Colors

This year, it’s predicted that neutrals are taking a backseat to bolder colors. Jewel tones, such as emerald green and sapphire blue, alongside earthy oranges and deep reds, are setting the mood for 2025.

Our Recommendation: Incorporate these tones using accents like throw pillows, rugs, or artwork to avoid overwhelming your space.

Curved and Organic Shapes

Soft curves and organic lines are replacing sharp edges, bringing a more relaxed, natural vibe to furniture design. Think arched headboards, rounded coffee tables, and asymmetrical sofas that prioritize comfort.

Our Recommendation: Blend curved furniture with existing pieces by focusing on balance. Try pairing those soft, rounded shapes with more angular pieces to create a cozy yet stylish vibe.

Multifunctional Furniture

With smaller spaces becoming more common, multifunctional pieces are a must. Look for sofas that double as beds, coffee tables with built-in storage, and modular furniture that can otherwise adapt to your needs.

Our Recommendation: If you’re furnishing a smaller space, assess the needs of your entire space before committing to certain pieces. See if instead of purchasing multiple pieces that serve a single purpose, you can double up on the uses of one piece to maximize efficiency and save space.

Mix-and-Match Textures

Layering different textures adds depth and interest to your interiors. In our showroom, our team has seen folks choose chairs from two different collections to create a quirky and personalized look.

Our Recommendation: Experiment with textures by adding throw blankets, cushions, or rugs before committing to larger textured furniture pieces.
