Some Older Drill Presses Can Bore Benchdog Holes

It can be tricky to drill dog holes cleanly and accurately in a benchtop. But if you have an older drill press, you might find that it has a moveable head that can be lowered on its post; this allows you to lower the head and pivot it sideways so you can drill into a benchtop. Get someone to help you when lifting the machine onto the bench. Also, rotating the head can make the machine tippy, so clamp down the base for each new hole position. This method works for any holes you need to drill in the middle of a large panel or slab.
