To celebrate Audiobook Month, we caught up with Morgan, a community builder and event curator based in the Washington, D.C. area.

You might know Morgan from her popular Instagram, TikTok, and Substack, @prettylittlebookshelf, where she shares bookish content. We at Libro.fm consider Morgan one of the geniuses behind the current audiobook walking club movement—read on to learn more!

Libro.fm: How did you come up with the idea to start audiobook walking clubs, and why did you feel it was important?

Morgan: [Along with] Kit Ballenger, [we] recognized that adulthood comes with fewer third spaces to form genuine friendships and the pandemic widened that gap considerably. Audiobooks have already woven themselves into the fabric of daily life while individuals are commuting or running errands. The question was simple: why not listen to audiobooks together?

L: What is Pages on the Path and how did it get its start?

M: Pages on the Path is an audiobook walking club inviting readers to find joy in a great story while exploring some of the DMV’s most scenic trails. It started from a recognition that humans need connection and the most meaningful communities are built around the things people love (books).

Take a listen to recommendations from Pages on the Path members in our playlist and give them a follow on social media!

L: Here at Libro.fm, we consider you one of the readers behind the audiobook walking club trend! What has it been like to see the movement grow?

M: It’s amazing! There is an entire population of adults who thrive in shared solitude. Audiobook walking clubs are now appearing across the country, which means more people are reading, more people are moving, and more people are finding community.

L: What are your three tips for a great audiobook walk?

M: All you need is a good book, amazing people, and a scenic location.

L: What are your go-to audiobook recommendations for walkers?
