STL349: Finishers on Flexner – FineWoodworking
Bob Flexner was a contributing editor to Popular Woodworking for over a decade. He was one of the most respected experts on every aspect of finishing and repairing finishes. Bob cut his chops in woodworking when he opened a one-man shop, building and restoring furniture. Over his career, Bob taught hundreds of classes on finishing, and his books have sold over 750,000 copies worldwide.
Bob Flexner died at home on December 29, 2024.
You should read these tributes to Bob from Megan Fitzpatrick and Chris Schwarz.
More from Mike Mascelli:
Born, raised, and still living in Latham, N.Y., Michael Mascelli teaches finishing and upholstery at schools and guilds across the country. He is the director of the Professional Refinisher’s Group and says, “These folks are the true experts in restoration and conservation, so my teaching is just a re-packaging of what I have learned from the pros for over 20 years.” His approach to his work is to respect the piece in front of him and the life it had before it came.
