Hex Around and Find Out by Molly Harper – That’s What I’m Talking About…

Audiobook review: Hex Around and Find Out by Molly Harper
Picking up shortly after the conclusion of The Wrong Witch to Hex, Hex Around and Find Out shares the story of the middle Seaworth sister Cora, and lovable pastry chef Iggy. The pair have a meet-cute when Iggy’s dog runs into Cora, but then later an enemy of the Seaworths accidentally shoots Iggy with a tranquilizer, forcing Cora to take him to the hidden Moonshadow Cove to save him. Instead of being frighted to discover about ghosts and witches, Iggy embraces Cora’s life and is fascinated with the cove and its residents.
Cora and Iggy feel a connection right away, with actual sparks forming between the pair. Despite their obvious chemistry, Cora pushes Iggy away in order to protect him. I appreciate that Cora realizes rather quickly that Iggy is part of her life, rather than letting her concerns becoming a “thing” that drags on. Even though Cora can’t see it, each is very similar to the other. It’s just she deals with anxiety and stress by making things orderly and he does it by going with the flow.
There is quite a lot of development regarding the pretentious Jasper Society and the Seaworth’s nemesis family, the Sandshears and their desire to possess the mysterious kelpie egg in the cove. And since I already understood the magic and the players involved, it was easier to follow the storyline this time.
Narration: Other than the prologue and epilogue, the story is shared via the alternating third person POVs of Cora and Iggy. Hamilton voices Iggy’s POVs. His voice is pleasantly deep and fitting. He adjusts for gender. Ronconi brings her usual, upbeat enthusiasm to the role of Cora. She also adjusts appropriately for gender, accent, and age. Both narrators don’t make a huge distinction between characters of the same gender, but their performances are entertaining.
Similar to the first book in the series, Hex Around and Find Out opens with a prologue from eldest sister Perry and closes with an epilogue from Jasper Society regular, James. It’s clear that these two will end up together, teaming up to take down the Seaworth’s enemies, and with how this one ended, it looks like it will be an exciting showdown.

About the Book:
As the middle sister in a trio of sea witches, Cora Seaworth has spent most of her life hidden away at her family’s magical cottage on Moonshadow Cove. She’s claimed her own corner of the library, cozied up with her favorite novels and a ghost cat named Nicodemus. She’s the deep thinker among her more tempestuous sisters, so she isn’t prepared to be swept up in a real-life romantic adventure in the form of sexy local baker Iggy Galinsky.
Iggy is tired of his reputation as the Island’s unreliable charmer and a man of many talents but no true calling outside his family’s bakery. Sure, it’s mostly true, but it still hurts his feelings. His carefree life gets serious fast when he meets the beautiful, mysterious Cora Seaworth. Before long, they’re working together with Cora’s sisters, various ghosts and the unfathomable creature lurking at the bottom of the cove to defeat an ancient enemy. If they don’t prevail, it’s not just their love that’s at stake, but Starfall Point’s entire magical community.
