The Princess Match by Clare Lydon (Narrated by Katy Sobey)

Full of Heart & Emotion, I Really Enjoyed This
4.5 out of 5 stars
Princess… oh no, but soccer star, heck yes! Personally, I usually skip a royal angle in Romance. But, a sports romance? Yes, please.
That’s exactly what was in my mind when I saw this. So I dove in and gave it a shot since Clare Lydon has yet to let me down.
Within a few pages, The Princess Match had me swelling up with emotions, and it didn’t let up throughout. Lydon writes incredibly believable characters that leap off the page and into your heart. There were a few moments when Ashleigh was on the pitch, and we got to go into her mind. Lydon and Sobey made me feel what she was feeling, crafting emotions so vivid that I had to pause the audiobook a few times.
Now, I normally go a little deeper into the prose and the storyline than this, but I read this one months ago, and I still think about it. All I can say is, even if you’re not a fan of the typical royal romance angle, try this one. I bet you’ll enjoy it; it surprised me even more than I expected it to.
I can’t leave off without mentioning the narration by Katy Sobey; she crushes it! This is the third book that they’ve done together that I’ve reviewed, for good reason. Bringing a high-emotion book to life like Sobey does here is hard to do. And she makes it sound easy. It was as if Lydon had written the story with her voice in mind. The book’s stars and the author and narrator were both matches made in heaven (pun intended).
Overall, a sapphic sports romance mixed in with a royal one. What could go wrong?
The Princess Match was full of growth, emotion, and feeling that left me with a lasting memory of this audiobook.
